Frauenzimmer

Packaging ‧ Illustration

St.Pölten, regional capital of Lower Austria, asked Frauenzimmer – a collective of 4 young Austrian female winemakers – to create their annual city wine, and we were commissioned to design the label.

As the wine is made by 4 women, and 2019 marks the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage, it was clear that the wine and the label should be dedicated to all strong, courageous & inspiring women out there. A detailed illustration shows Paula Preradovic, who went to school in St.Pölten, became active in the resistance movement in WW2 and famous for writing the lyrics of the Austrian anthem.

Details in the illustration show the connection with the city: The wolf is the town’s emblem. Symbols of justice, wisdom, peaceableness, and solidarity stand for democratic values.
